We’re on a mission to build an open, accessible and fair financial future, one piece of software at a time. We’re making progress every day by bringing you new features and updates to our web wallet, as well as on iOS and Android. Last week we were excited to bring you an announcement about our work on Thunder, which opens the door to new solutions for bitcoin’s scalability, as we continue to support over 7 million users and beyond.
Behind the software are some amazing people and we’re proud to introduce three new additions to our team.
**Liana, **VP of Marketing and Communications
Liana graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology and a certificate in International Studies from Connecticut College. Before joining our ranks, she headed up Branding and Communications at Axiom, a professional services firm, and helped them grow to a $250 million dollar industry leader with 2000 people in 17 offices across the globe. Liana’s philanthropic work earned her a spot on the New York Observer’s “Top 20 Philanthropists under 40” list alongside Olivia Wilde, Zac Posen, and Carmelo Anthony, among others. In her free time, she likes to relive her college days as a member of the Connecticut College Alumni Board of Directors, and to spend time with her son and wife. A fan of dichotomies (which she blames on a childhood split between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Guilford, CT), Liana may be the only country music-loving, mean rice and bean-making francophile.
JP is a self-starter whose interest in electronics and IT began when he was 11. At 14, JP began learning the ins and outs of Linux system administration, security, and networking. He enjoyed working as a network infrastructure consultant for several years, which included speaking at several Linux-focused conferences, and teaching Linux to systems engineers. After a shift towards software development, JP began working for various private Swiss banks programming in Perl, and later took a position at Amazon as a systems engineer. Once Bitcoin came into the picture, he focused on developing Haskoin, a Haskell Bitcoin wallet; a project which he eventually left Amazon for to pursue full time. In addition to his enthusiasm for Haskell and functional programming, JP is also a very proud father to his 13-year-old and 8-month-old daughters.
Elly joins our team with over five years of marketing and PR experience. Raised in Hong Kong, she relocated to London in 2014 where she completed her Master’s Degree in Applied Corporate Brand Management. Elly is fluent in four different languages, and is extremely well-versed in strategies for Asian markets. Her journey into bitcoin and the FinTech world began during her role as Senior PR executive at ANX International, and she has been very enthusiastic about expanding on that knowledge with her role at Blockchain. When she’s not in the office, she’s scouring London for the best spicy food, and obsessing over Ryan Gosling.
