Meet Our Team: Elena, Riaan, Tereza, & Jamie

Blockchain has been growing really quickly. In fact, we just won an award for the Scale Up Company of the year and week over week we’re seeing record traffic on our services. As we expand, finding amazing teammates to help us on our mission is critical. Today we’re excited to introduce some new colleagues and fellow bitcoin geeks.

Elena comes to us with an Master’s in Software Engineering. Elena has a tendency to work with world leading companies having spent time at both Oracle and Amazon. Elena has some serious developer credibility. At Amazon she worked on the Elastic MapReduce web service and helped optimize code relied on by millions of people. She’s working on our backend engineering team and focused on providing our users a reliable and secure platform.

After graduating from the University of South Africa, Riaan worked as an audio visual technician and programmer. He’s an audiophile who loves tech. It was during this time that Riaan realized he wanted to pursue a full time career in software development. Before joining our team, he worked as a developer at TSS, where he built and ultra secure vehicle tracking system. Riaan will be working closely with our product and security team to deliver amazing Android apps.

Tereza has a love for language. A native Czech speaker, she also speaks English, German, and even a little Arabic. Her educational background is in international relations and public management, and most recently she received her Master’s in Public Management and Governance from the London School of Economics. Tereza prides herself on her hard work and dedication. Prior to her role at Blockchain, her accomplishments include co-founding the largest women’s society, LSE Women Leaders of Tomorrow, and an internship at the United Nations HQ in New York. As part of our operations team, she has the opportunity to dive into a variety of projects across the company.

Jamie has always been a stickler for quality and detail. With a Master’s in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, she has been focused on building her career as a quality assurance engineer. Her work experience began as a contractor for the Social Security Administration, and most recently she worked as a subsystem integration and test lead for NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope at the Space Telescope Science Institute. Her high attention to detail and enthusiasm for testing will ensure we continue to provide the highest quality of products to our users. Jamie also happens to be our resident Mario Kart Champion.
