A year of Bitcoin news: Mainstream news coverage

In April 2014, we started a new series of weekly blog posts called the “Weekly Recap,” which highlights top news stories and headlines in Bitcoin for that past week. The purpose of the weekly summary is to capture and measure the Bitcoin landscape for our readers, as a way to enhance their understanding of Bitcoin and keep up with news affecting it around the globe. Thanks to our readers for making it a success!

We took a look back at some of the most influential headlines, from April 2014 until March 2015, and want to share this with you as a reminder of how rapidly this landscape is growing and changing. We sorted through hundreds of news stories that we broke down into six categories. Each category will feature 10 stories we felt did a great job of encapsulating the past 12 months.

This first post covers headlines that appeared in mainstream news sources. The list isn’t all encompassing, but gives you an idea of some of the stories that mainstream media latched onto over this past year.
